NCD #167

A Word From One of the Creators

From the desk of Eric Ratcliffe

Listen, I’ve been enjoying AvX, it’s why I get to poke fun at it. I just really don’t understand why Scott was so dead set on Hope being the savior, especially after he gained all this power. You can fix what Wanda almost fixed, just do it, man! Seriously, I really think that’s my major complaint with the event. Loved the Iron Fist/Phoenix connection stuff, absolutely loved seeing guys like Beast and even Logan having to test their allegiances and I’m really curious to see how things end, especially with what happened in #11

On a completely different note, in that very first panel you can see that we’ve tweaked and changed my character just a tiny bit. The reason for this is simple: streamlining the main cast so the looks only change drastically during the big action stuff.

There are actually several reasons for the hat though. The first being that I own and wear that hat as much as possible. The second is because I wanted to do something to give a nod to Doug Walker, aka The Nostalgia Critic who wore the same type of hat. They’ve decided to stop doing the character and, well, he’d become a character that I’d grown to enjoy. His reviews were hilarious and To Boldly Flee (which I’ll be reviewing soon) really hit on why a character like that and his world should exist.

Oh, and the other reason? I think Jim hates drawing my hair. ;) Nah, seriously, it’s because hats are cool!

This week’s recommendation is Atop the Fourth the Wall, which is by far one of the funniest and more unique review shows on the planet. Linkara the host is a Power Rangers, Doctor Who and comic book fan who reviews the worst comics the world has to offer all while fighting mad scientists, holograms, world conquering evil entities and so much more. His production values are really great and he seems like the kind of person I’d get along with in general. So check him out and enjoy!

Next week…Jim and Eric go to see Dredd! See you in 7, folks!
