A Word From One of the Creators
From the desk of Eric Ratcliffe
I really need to start writing my commentary early in the day, I get way too distracted. Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed this strip…even if something from Temple of Doom managed to sneak in to panel #1. (Go ahead and tell me with a straight face that it’s a good Indiana Jones movie, I dare you! I have one argument for you: Willie) We went off to Vegas! This was a fun one to write for me, if only because of the overall idea of going to Vegas with these guys. I’m sure Brant would have better luck at the tables in real life though.
Something cut from this idea was the fact that it was originally an arc, started with the crew in an airport and Eric teleporting away Zatanna style. Which of course led into the mystery of just where Eric was during the time the guys were at the table. (It’s actually a running joke between Chuck Moore and myself in real life that if we ever do get to Vegas I’m heading straight for the Magic Mansion)
Of course, there’s also the fact that I’m bringing Chuck Moore into the strip more as a recurring character, half because I consider Chuck a really good friend whom I’ve spent hours talking to, and the other reason because he’s a heavy factor into why I do all the stuff I do now. Plus he just has one of those personalities that you can’t help but to like him.
Poor Brant, though, not sure how many times comic Eric has managed to either almost get him hurt, ignore his help or just flat out ruin a good hand for him. I swear I love my friends, it’s just my comic book self that seems to bring trouble everywhere he goes.
I know it’s still about 2 months away, but I’m still heavily excited for NYCC; can’t wait to get out to the show this year and see some people I only get to see once a year. Jim and I will actually be meeting in person for the first time too, which makes it even more exciting!
Next week…what is Eric doing in New York and what does it have to do with Spider-Man? Find out in 7, folks!

Ah, good intentions always come out wrong, don’t they?
I second the motion to have Chuck in the comic more often
Oh I’m trying to develop an idea that I know you of all people will probably get a kick out of. ;p
