A Word From One of the Creators

From the desk of Eric Ratcliffe

I love when Chad pitches ideas, mostly because we get stuff like this. It’s very funny, basic and of course has a strong punchline.

Now, with that being said, let me be completely honest with you guys: When it comes to the actual Hunger Games I am running absolutely blind. I saw the trailer like everyone else, I knew there were books, but I was completely ignorant of them. The trailer looked strong and the premise is an interesting one.

I mean it’s obviously been done much stronger in the movie Battle Royal (A movie not to be watched by anyone under the age of 16) or even Lord of the Flies, but still, when the subject your handling is compared to material like that…you know you’re on the right track and not anywhere near Twilight territory. (Mind you I still have yet to see the Hunger Games and it’s looking like I wont be going to the movies until the Avengers hits, missing out on John Carter as well sadly.)

But to me, the Hunger Games series is something positive for a younger generation. Just like Harry Potter before it, younger readers are going after this series and finding themselves invested and looking for more to read. I am 100 percent all for that and it makes me smile just thinking about it. (You know I’m doing my best not to knock Twilight again here, right?)

On a different note, as we gear closer to the end of year 3, there will be some changes coming to the strip and I’ll get into that more in the coming weeks. I’m both excited, nervous and a little sad about them, but I promise you readers that the team is very much in tact and going strong.

Next weekend is Boston Comic Con and I am very anxious/excited about the show! Sadly, I have not been told what my table number is yet, but be sure to find me, say hi and talk for a while. I always love meeting our readers!

Next week…a cosplay goes very, very wrong. Find out how and why in 7, folks!

Nicely done! Had to read it twice to “get it”….but once I did… worked well.
