A Word From One of the Creators
From the log of Eric Ratcliffe
Not sure if I talked about this in last week’s commentary, but when I was younger and till just a few years ago I was an incredibly passive Superman fan. I could never really get into the character or his universe. I loved him in the cartoons (especially Justice League, which was so good) but I was always more a Batman/Flash fan. (This was years before I even thought of getting the Green Lantern symbol tattooed on my arm)
There’s just something amazing and incredibly human about a man who feels out of place with the rest of the world due to where he comes from and what he can do. I loved in the last moments of Justice League Unlimited how without hesitation he blatantly tells Darkseid that he doesn’t have to be afraid and can cut loose.
When handled under a writer who can truly understand the character, he’s extremely approachable. He has this surreal and interested set of bad guys and when your best friend is Batman it just shows how interesting of a person you are.
I’m actually taking my parents to see Man of Steel on Friday, still very excited. Over the last decade my dad and I have only seen about maybe 2-3 movies together. One of them was the CGI and very underrated TMNT and the other was just a few months ago with Iron Man 3. So I’m actually kind of excited to see what their reactions are just as much as mine.
Strip wise this week, I really wasn’t sure how people would react. I stole that battle armor over a year ago in a one-off strip and figured it was the perfect time to bring it back.
How high can we raise Lex Luthor’s blood pressure? And just what do the labs look like in Lexcorp? Find out in 7, folks!
